Mayor of Havant's birthday + Celebration of Age

12 noon - 4.30 at The Plaza in Havant

Celebrate all that is available for the Borough's silver citizens, which will keep them mentally and physically active for as long as possible.   All residents over the age of 50 are invited, and there is a minibus shuttle service to the Plaza from Havant Bus station.  Angel Radio will be playing music to encourage visitors to enjoy a dance or two, and there will be rooms across the corridor for demonstrations, such as the Keep Fit class for the Over-50s from the Leigh Park Community Association. Churchill Homes are sponsoring the event, and will have a display to show their latest homes opening in the Borough.  Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits will be served during the afternoon.. and, of course, birthday cake!!  Parking is available in the Leisure Centre Car Park (pay and display).

Monday 29 August - Bank Holiday

Emsworth Show - The annual Emsworth Show is open from 10.30am to 5pm at the Emsworth Recreation Ground.  A packed programme of events in the show ring and a wide range of stands and other attractions. Plus .. Havant Rotary is offering an exciting challenge to visitors of the show - racing around a large Scalextric figure 8 track, two competitors at a time will pitch their reflexes and driving skills to be crowned champion on the day.  Junior and senior competitions will be run, with prizes for the top three in each. Havant Rotary will also being showing a video of the club’s work in the locally and internation community.

Louise Holmes’ mum, Rita McGovern from Selsey, who is 73 years old, has decided to support a close friend currently having treatment for cancer by having all her hair shaved off. Rita is a mother of 4, a grandma and a great grandma. Her family are proud of her and the amazing support that she gives to everyone around her. They would love people to go along and support her on the day and give her a cheer for braving the shave, any donations would be greatly appreciated … She is doing this on Tuesday 30th of August at 10.30am at the Cut and Shave Barbers, No1. Southgate, Chichester.  

Rita’s donations will support the work of Macmillan nurses.

The Elms is an important house in the village of Bedhampton, once described as 'the gem of Bedhampton'. Woofs & Wellies at Stansted Park. A fun, Christmas-themed day out for all doggies, taking a walk through the beautiful grounds of Stansted. Last year saw 250 dogs of all breeds, colours and sizes walk alongside side each other dressed in Christmas jumpers, Santa hats and festive decorations. The dressing up is not just for the dogs.

This year there will be two different routes. The first route is 3K. The second choice is 6K. You can decide which you would like to do on the day. Registration from 9:00am, ready to start walking at 10:00am. There will be festive music, and hot food and drinks available from the Farm Shop. Each dog will need to be registered for the event at £5 per dog but they can bring as many humans as they like. Woofs & Wellies is a sponsored dog walk for Rowans Hospice, and each dog’s target is to raise £25.
