Thursday August 25th 2016

Mayor of Havant, Councillor Faith Ponsonby …. Celebration of Age

12 noon - 4.30 - - The Plaza

As I have a significant birthday on this day, I have decided to celebrate all that is available for the Borough's silver citizens to join/use if they wish, which will keep them mentally and physically active for as long as possible.   All residents over the age of 60 will be invited, and Community First, who are helping me to organise the afternoon, have organised a minibus shuttle service to the Plaza from Havant Bus station.   They may also be able to have mobility scooters for residents to try out!  Angel Radio will be attending with music to encourage visitors to enjoy a dance or two, and there will be rooms across the corridor for demonstrations, such as the Keep Fit class for the Over-50s from the Leigh Park Community Association.   We are hoping that Churchill Homes will sponsor us, in return for a display space to show their latest homes opening in the Borough.  Detailed publicity for this event will start in mid-July, though the event is already listed in my calendar of events.  Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits will be served during the afternoon.. and, of course, birthday cake!!

I really hope you will wish to be part of this day.   Set-up will be from 11 am onwards, and we will need to be clear by 5.00 pm.   Parking is available in the Leisure Centre Car Park (pay and display).

Please could you let my secretary, Anne Thurlow, know as soon as possible (deadline of 12 August) whether you would like a table to be reserved for you, and if you wish to have a time spot saved on the demonstration programme.

There is no charge for this, but if you are able to provide a raffle prize(s) for a raffle, and possibly a tombola, in aid of my three charities - see enclosed leaflet - I would be most grateful.

Yours,

Faith Ponsonby

Mayor of the Borough of Havant 2016/1
